A sacred site that reminds one about the playful tricks of young Krishna, Vrindavan is situated on the holy bank of Yamuna river where Krishna spent his childhood with gopikas. famed for the wide array of temples that scatters all over, this revered city witness’s lac of devotees every year and turned to be a major devout center not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in entire India . Numerous events are documented to have occurred here, this is where Krishna did the divine dance with gopis which is called maharaasa and destroyed demons . There are many places to visit :-
1- Bihariji- the best known temple in Vrindavan, home to Krishna Idol known as Thakurji. The idol’s eyes are said to be so powerful that it is kept hidden from view behind a curtain,which is opened and closed every few minuets. this is very popular temple. people from all over the world visit here every year.
2- Govind Dev Mandir- Built by Raja Sawai Man Singh of Jaipur. This sqat, bulky temple reportedly had four stories lopped off during Aurangzeb’s reign of terror.
3- Jai Gurudev Temple- It resembles the Tajmahal built with white marble. it is unique temple in that you are prohibited from donating if you are non-vegetarian. pupils of Jaiguru dev visited here in very large numbers.
4-Krishna Balram Mandir- Krishna Balram Mandir is also known as ISKCON Temple.A major draw for ‘Hare Krishna’ it is a pilgrimage where you can see many foreign devotees to chant and danced on the Maha Mantra Hare Krishna Hare Rama and this will fill your heart with devotion.
5-Kesi Ghat- By the Yamuna, according to the legends, this is the place where Krishna killed demon Kesi and then bathed to celebrate. Aarti is offered here to Yamuna every evening.
6-Rangji Mandir- The single largest temple in Vrindavan built in 1851 in a South Indian style.many tourists also visit here every year.
7- Seva Kunj- Planted with countless tulsi trees, this is the garden where gopis dance for Krishna at night, and where krishna and his lover Radha spend the night locked in the Moti Mahal.
In Vrindavan you can also enjoy Indian foodand of course it is vegetarian but very delicious. A drink called Lassi which is made with yoghurt is very famous here .some festivals are celebrated here with great Zeal like Holi, krishna janmastmi, Radhaastmi and akshayatritiya. so if you are Krishna devotee then pay a visit to land of krishna’s childhood Vrindavan and present yourself in the feet of Krishna to forget your all worries and tensions.
